Successful Speed Networking event sees over 270 students inspired by local businesses

Over 270 pupils and 100 employers in Leicester and Leicestershire took part in a new and exciting careers event held at Leicester Racecourse on Friday 4th November 2016.

Students aged between 13 and 18 from schools and colleges in the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership’s (LLEP)  Enterprise Adviser Network took part in the region’s largest ever Careers Speed Networking event – the first of its kind organised by the LLEP.

A whole host of local businesses engaged with the students in a series of ‘speed networking’ sessions, with participants including Hastings Direct, ASDA, Highcross Leicester, Laing O’Rourke, Next, British Gas, NHS, Bray & Bray and Mattioli Woods and was kindly sponsored by Hasting Direct.

Assistant Principal at South Charnwood High School, Kathryn Juszkiewicz, commented “the event was fantastic and our pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience – they were asking if they could go back next year! All the staff and employers were extremely helpful and open and we felt the day went very well”.

The LLEP is looking for Enterprise Advisers to help support local schools and increase engagement with local businesses. To find out more about volunteering to become an Enterprise Adviser, contact Fiona Baker, Enterprise Coordinator: fiona.baker@llep.org.uk or click here.
