A50/A6- Leicester North West Major Transport Corridor

Project Summary
The Leicester North West Investment corridor is an investment programme totalling £19 million. Its aim is to improve movement and accessibility in and out of Leicester.
Better use of the A50 and A6 corridors to access the PUA will mitigate the impact of growth elsewhere in the LLEP area. The completed road network will reduce congestion into Leicester and assist the efficient operation of local businesses. Without this intervention congestion will continue to increase and become a severe barrier to our local economy.
Phase one of the project (2015 – 2017) involved:
- The construction of two roundabouts
- Improvements at Aikman Avenue junction
- Improvements to walking and cycling routes
This was successfully completed on time and on budget.
Phase two (2017 – 2021) is now progressing through the design and planning stages.
