Pathways launches ambassador programmes to help young people make career choices

Are you a parent or carer? Would you consider talking to other parents about your experiences helping your child make decisions about their education?

If your child is currently doing an apprenticeship, a degree apprenticeship or currently doing a course in college, Pathways would love to hear from you.

Parent/Carer Ambassadors will spend time talking about their experiences online, having discussions with other parents and carers at school events and as part of university and college events, including open days, HE/FE fairs, in Leicestershire. Due to Covid-19 it is highly likely that some of these events will be taking place virtually using platforms like Zoom.

During these sessions, Ambassadors will share experiences of helping their own children which will vary from experiences of helping them through college, applying for apprenticeships and discussing their routes.

Ambassadors will need to offer a friendly and approachable source of information on the steps towards and benefits of young people going to college or an apprenticeship be prepared to answer any questions other parents and carers may have about the process of their route.

Pathways is looking for a team of ambassadors living in Leicestershire or Rutland from a range of backgrounds who will be confident in helping other parents and carers to overcome their concerns about their children accessing higher education.

A Parent/Carer Ambassador is a paid role to be undertaken on a casual basis and full training will be given.

Pathways Ambassadors will spend their time talking about their experiences by having discussions with a range of people including school and college students and parents at events. Again, events will likely place virtually.

If you are a business owner that offers apprenticeships, please get in touch alternatively, please forward this opportunity onto anyone that may be interested.

This role is a paid role (you will be reimbursed for your time) to be undertaken on a casual basis and full training will be given.
