Exporting in the East Midlands
Exports measure the amount of goods or services provided by domestic producers for international customers. The export market is acknowledged to be a driver of productivity, with clear economic benefits for firms.
Over the decade 2003 to 2013 the levels of exporting in the East Midlands have steadily risen from £3b to over £5b with some 8,200 businesses in the East Midlands known to be exporting.
The document below, commissioned by UKTI, sets out the principal findings of a research project to assess the extent of exporting currently taking place across the East Midlands and its five constituent Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs).
