Conferences showcase Leicester and Leicestershire’s new inward investment campaign

Leicester and Leicestershire’s business and investment opportunities will be showcased at two major conferences in November and will include the launch of a brand new website, guide and online channel for the area.

The Leicester Business Festival (2-13 November) and the Midlands Forum for Growth (24-26 November) will be spotlighting the opportunities that continue to make Leicester and Leicestershire an attractive location for businesses to start, expand and relocate to.

Leicester City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby said: “Leicester continues to be a great place to live and work. We have ambitious growth plans and along with private and public sector partners we are continuing to invest in the further transformation of our city. These partnerships have brought about the £250 million Waterside Regeneration Scheme, and the £100 million Space Park Leicester project, both of which are well under way and providing a huge boost to the local economy.  We are also able to provide businesses with the support they need to start and thrive here, which is why companies like IBM, Hastings Direct and Octopus Energy have chosen Leicester as their base.”

Nick Rushton, Leader of Leicestershire County Council, who will be taking part in the Midlands Forum for Growth, said: “Leicestershire represents the largest economy in the East Midlands and we benefit from being able to offer space for growth. We also offer the important digital and technology skills that are in high demand at the moment, as well as the rail, road and air logistics that are crucial to the economy right now. Driving growth and investment is vital, as well as helping businesses bounce back from Covid-19. Leicestershire is very much open for business – and I look forward to welcoming more companies to the county.”

One of the key messages underpinning the conferences will be the exceptional value for money that Leicester and Leicestershire offers businesses, with estimates that companies can save on average £15,500 per employee per annum and substantially on Grade A office space costs when compared to London.  Alongside this, the area’s central UK location near to East Midlands Airport and its strengths in logistics means that businesses are ideally placed for UK and global distribution.

The new inward investment website is at InvestInLeicester.co.uk and to contact the Place Marketing Team either info@investinleicester.co.uk or 0116 454 1220 or on LinkedIn via the team’s Invest in Leicester page.
