Leicester Business Festival (LBF) ended this afternoon following two busy weeks filled with more than 100 business events.
The Leicester Business Festival closing event was held at De Montfort University’s Vijay Patel Building. During the closing event several awards were presented by the LBF team.
The LLEP and East Midlands Airport won the award for the most pioneering event for ‘The Future of Human Mobility and Regional Connectivity’. The event was well attended and featured high-profile speakers who championed future technologies like flying taxis, UBER Jump e-bikes and e-scooters and electric plane flights.
The LBF2019 Award went to We Love Surveys, for their event, ‘Employee Engagement – Effective Strategies, Stories and Technologies to Get it Right.’ This popular event was a great success, featuring quality speakers and was promoted very well.
Kevin Harris, LLEP Chair, said: “We are delighted to receive the LBF award for the most pioneering event. We worked with East Midlands Airport and Mira Technology Institute to create an event that would spotlight the future innovations and technologies for transport. The LLEP is a strategic organisation that looks ahead for opportunities to create economic prosperity for our businesses and residents. This includes strategies for transport infrastructure and the green economy.
“I am delighted that LBF 2019 has been such a great success, attracting over 6,300 delegates to over 100 events. Over 1,000 delegates were from outside the region. This demonstrates the reach the festival is now having beyond the city and county.
“One of the key reasons for starting the festival 5 years ago was to raise the profile of our region as a great place to do business. I firmly believe LBF is placing Leicester and Leicestershire on the radar of potential inward investors and businesses looking to relocate to a vibrant and growing region.”
The festival will return next year, and dates are confirmed for 2-13 November 2020.
