The team at Leicester’s King Richard III Visitor Centre are celebrating after being included on Lonely Planet’s Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist.
Lonely Planet ranks the top 500 unmissable experiences and hidden gems across Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the first time in the ultimate UK travel hitlist.
Visitor Centre Director, Iain Gordon commented: “This is brilliant news and we are delighted that the Visitor Centre has been included on Lonely Planet’s Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist.
“We’ve been welcoming visitors for over five years now and still to be recognised by the experts and wider Lonely Planet community as a must-see attraction is fantastic news for everyone involved in the Visitor Centre.”
Lonely Planet’s VP of Experience, Tom Hall, said: “Lonely Planet’s Ultimate United Kingdom Travelist brings together the UK’s most compelling sights and experiences, from world-class museums and giant cathedrals to rollicking festivals, inky lochs and tiny pubs. We’re thrilled to name the King Richard III Visitor Centre among the entries. The centre reveals an incredible story of the king’s life and death as well as one of the world’s greatest archaeological detective stories – all set in a beautifully designed location.”
