It is a key priority for the LLEP to support local education-business links and advice, information and guidance networks.
Education-Business Links research
In 2015/16 the LLEP commissioned research via LEBC and Leicestershire Cares with all local schools, academies and colleges and 578 local employers to:
- Assess education and business links in the LLEP area.
- Make recommendations on how education and business activities should be delivered in the future.
The LLEP developed a working Action Plan to champion the recommendations. The final report set out 12 key recommendations on how to best to champion and enhance education and business links locally. The research report is available at the base of this page.
Actions included a campaign to encourage more industry leads to become school Governors, supporting the Careers and Enterprise programme, and updating the LLEP Labour Market guide. The Business-Education Links working group is now driving forward a new Action Plan for 2017/2018 and meets quarterly. Careers and Enterprise Company
The Careers and Enterprise Company is a new employer led body which has been set up to strengthen interactions between employers and schools. The LLEP is delighted to be a partner in this national programme to enhance industry-education links and secure the best possible outcomes for local young people.
The project involves LLEP based ‘Enterprise Coordinators’, who will work to direct and manage a network of ‘Enterprise Advisers’ (employer volunteers from the LLEP area) to support local schools with their business/enterprise links and enhance their careers and industry plans. See the Careers and Enterprise Company pages on this website for more information and do get involved!
Careers for the Future network
The LLEP has worked with Connexions Leicester City and Prospects (Leicestershire) to convene regular meetings for careers advisers, called Careers for the Future. Here, advisers can:
* Meet, share good practice and network
* Find out more about key local job sectors

Network events to date have included focuses on Health and Care, a huge local sector for opportunities, and Logistics (another huge sector) . This was held at the Scania Training Centre near Loughborough. Here are some photos from the Scania event:
Other events have looked at our other key sectors. For more information, contact Anna Cyhan email@example.com
Future LLEP schools events will be held in conjunction with our growing Enterprise Adviser Network, see the Careers and Enterprise Company pages on this website.
