Improve Your Prospects is an ESF re-engagement course; contract managed by Prospects, for young people between the ages of 16-24 who are NEET/unemployed and live across either Leicestershire or Leicester city.
The project enables young people to springboard on to Apprenticeships, employment, education, Traineeships or unpaid work (focusing on Leicestershire/Leicester LEPs priorities of supporting more young people into Apprenticeships and reducing NEET by 50%).
Prospects are subcontracting Connexions Leicester City who are providing end to end delivery on the contract and focussed on supporting young people in Leicester City. While the Prospects in-house team are working with young people throughout the county. Both are providing in-house employability skills.
There are two routes on Improve your Prospects and the most appropriate route for a young person is identified through an Outcome Star assessment at the sign up stage.
Route 1 – employability (six weeks)
Route 2 – employability and qualification(s). Qualifications can be gained in basic skills or vocational areas up to Level 2 standard. (Up to 12 weeks).
Key workers act as mentors and maintain fortnightly contact throughout the programme. Basic skills levels are also identified through assessments if a young person has not already achieved Level 2 qualifications.
Prospects are working with a range of providers, such as Leicester College, Tigers Foundation, YEP, Trans4m, Digital Marketing Mentor, Subsea Ventures, Leicester Academy of Music, Twenty Twenty and the Melton Learning Hub.
