Leicestershire’s £22.9bn vibrant and thriving economy sits at the very heart of the country. It boasts a unique proposition that characterises our place in the UK.
We have unrivalled connectivity; only an hour from London by rail, easy access to the M1, M69, M6 and onward road networks, the largest logistics distribution park in Europe, the UK’s second largest freight airport and two international passenger airports reachable in less than an hour.
We have an accessible workforce with over 1 million working age people within a 45 min drive, three world class universities with over 50,000 students, and strong FE Colleges supporting 85,000 learners and 3,500 employers.
We have strengths in key UK future growth sectors but also maintain the strong, and growing, manufacturing sector that forms the backbone of our economy. We are home to a diverse range of businesses including Caterpillar, Next, Santander, Walkers Snack Foods and more recently IBM Services Centre UK.
We have a young, diverse, multicultural city surrounded by thriving market towns and popular villages set in an attractive landscape providing the perfect balance for living and working, with plenty of attractions and activities for all to enjoy.
