Kevin Harris

The Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) has shined the spotlight on Kevin Harris, Vice-Chair of the LLEP.

Kevin has worked in the accountancy profession for more than 20 years since graduating with a degree in Business Studies. Kevin is a strong advocate of Leicester and Leicestershire and was a partner at regional accountancy and business advisory firm, PKF Cooper Parry. In this role Kevin was involved in managing portfolios of local businesses, delivering both advisory support and compliance services, such as audit and taxation.

We spoke to Kevin and asked him some questions about his job roles, hobbies and what it means to be a Vice-Chair of the LLEP. Here is what he has to say!

1.What motivates you?

Finding solutions.

 

2.What do you do for fun/ what are your hobbies?

Family time, especially if it also involves motorsport and rock music. I  also love travelling and visiting new places!


3. How would you describe a typical Friday evening?

Relaxing with a cold beer and a hot curry.

 

4. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Cruising the Nile has always been something I fancy doing.

 

5. What has been your favourite job role?

I have loved working alongside great businesses and passionate owners.


6.What’s your finest achievement in your work?

 Setting up and developing a new office from a standing start. I have learnt so much and made many mistakes but I am immensely proud of what was achieved.


7. What has been your most memorable experience (professional or personal)?

In a work context making Partner in 2001. In a personal context experiencing the birth of my children.


8. What is the one bit of advice would you give to your 18 yr old self?

Make your career doing something you enjoy; If you are also good at it that’s a bonus! Believe in yourself and don’t be scared to be different.

9. How long have you been on the LLEP board?

Just over two years now.


10. As a valued board member, how do you see yourself contributing to the LLEP?

By bringing a commercial, pragmatic approach to decision-making.
