The LLEP Team
Economic Strategy Manager (Place)
With over thirty years’ of working in economic development in eleven posts I have undertaken most disciplines within the regeneration field. This experience includes: developing economic strategies; heading up 13 vocational training units (which included a farm and equestrian facility) which employed 111 staff and provided 700 places for young people and adults; managing multi million pound investment programmes; hosting inward and leading overseas and trade missions.
Current role: I joined the LLEP at its inception and I am currently the Economic Strategy Manager (Place). This includes managing a £13m revolving loan fund; overseeing the transport infrastructure investment in our £100m Growth Deal; representing the LLEP on a number of local and regional transport bodies; being sector lead for Tourism & Hospitality.
Economic Growth and Investment Officer (People)
I’ve got several years’ experience of working on skills relating to careers advice, schools, project management, apprenticeships, events and training in both the public and private sector.
I joined the LLEP on a full-time basis in June 2013 after several years at Connexions working to help young people into education, employment or training.
Current role: My role is very varied as skills cover a wide area! But it includes labour market information, school and college newsletters and resources, activity to support Education Business Links, Adult Skills support, apprenticeships, marketing, employer engagement, PR, events, People Board support and ESF newsletters/support.
Economic Intelligence Officer
After completing my undergraduate and post-graduate studies I started work in a local government setting. Roles undertaken have varied but nearly all have had their foundations in research and performance and been based within an economic/social or physical regeneration setting. I joined the LLEP in 2012.
Current role: As an Economic Intelligence Officer work can be varied, but mainly relates to research and intelligence and the management, breakdown, understanding and communication of data. My work informs the management information and decision making processes and provides an understanding of how the LLEP performs and the environment in which it operates.
Enterprise Zone Coordinator
I’ve been involved in partnership working within the public sector since 2004, beginning with a road safety awareness project with Leicestershire County Council. Following this I moved into economic development, working at the East Midlands China Business Bureau (employed by the former RDA, EMDA), and going on to join the Multi-Area Agreement team at Leicester City Council – which became the LLEP team in 2011.
During 2011, I moved to London and had a break from the public sector but I moved back to Leicester in 2015 and was very pleased to re-join the LLEP.
Current role: I work closely with our four Enterprise Zone sites to support them in securing investment, attracting businesses and generating jobs. I ensure they are represented on both national and international stages to enable their opportunities to be maximized.
Economic Intelligence Officer (Business Gateway)
After completing my degree in 2006 I have taken on a number of roles in various areas working within both private and public sector. I joined the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership in 2012 and have worked on a number of projects including the MIRA Academy, Regional Growth Fund and the Growth Hub (Business Gateway).
Current role: I work with the Business Gateway team to provide a ‘one stop shop’ business support service to local businesses. My role involves providing back office technical support including the CRM system, web development and performance outputs so that the Gateway has the systems in place to develop and expand as it becomes a widely used business support services across Leicester & Leicestershire.
After completing my postgraduate degree in International Relations in 2018, I joined Leicester City Council as a graduate project officer in Democratic Support. I joined the LLEP in 2019 as a project officer.
Contracts and Finance Manager
Current Role: My role is to actively manage and monitor multiple contracts, to act as the lead for the accountable body, and to provide a strategic analysis of the LLEP’s finance. My current work streams include Growing Places Fund, Pooled Business Rates and European Structural Investment Funds.
Interim Head of Strategy
I came to Leicester to study at University and never left. Since my first ‘proper job’, at Leicester Urban Studies Centre, my career has centred on skills training and employer engagement in Leicester and Leicestershire. I spent a number of years working for Leicestershire Training and Enterprise Council and Leicestershire Learning and Skills Council on programmes including Investors in People, Train to Gain and Apprenticeships. For the last eight years I held senior management roles at South Leicestershire College and North Warwickshire and Hinckley College focussing on Employer Partnerships and Apprenticeships.
Current Role: In my current role I am the interim Head of Strategy. My role is to promote economic development across Leicester and Leicestershire by leading and managing the LLEP’s Strategy Team and to provide expert challenge and guidance on all aspects of economic strategy and policy development to the LLEP Chief Executive.
I am also working on a range of projects and programmes aligned to raising skills levels within the LLEP area meet employer demand and the needs of the LLEP priority sectors.
Careers Hub Manager
I have always worked in the skills sector starting off with the NHS on their e-learning programmes for non-clinical staff and progressing a Regional Manager for Learndirect and also a Skills Development Manager for the Learning and Skills Council.
More recently I have worked as a Training Consultant with employers across Leicester and Leicestershire to advise on upskilling their workforce and I have spent the last year in the private sector as the Head of Training and Development for a national training company.
Current Role: I lead on the implementation and development of the LLEP Careers Hub and Enterprise Adviser Network across Leicester and Leicestershire, working with universities, other education and training providers, employers and career professionals to ensure the Gatsby Benchmarks are delivered in each school and college as part of the LLEP Enterprise Adviser Network and that careers outcomes are improved for all young people.
I am responsible for the programme and management of a team of highly skilled Enterprise Coordinators, driving improvements across all schools and colleges aligned to the Gatsby Benchmarks for good careers guidance. This includes senior stakeholder engagement with the Hub schools and colleges, local government, higher education partners, businesses and business bodies. Reporting, evaluating, sharing key learning and examples of best practice and driving continuous improvement.
This is a key in supporting the LLEP objective to ensure that local people are equipped with the relevant skills that businesses need and young people are ready for the world of work on continuous studies.
Growth Hub Manager
As the Business Gateway Growth Hub Manager my role is to lead and deliver a high performing and effective business Growth Hub support service to meet the needs of Leicester and Leicestershire businesses, to help them grow. This includes the management and delivery of externally funded contracts such as ERDF and BEIS, working with multiple stakeholders and partners.
Marketing & Communications Officer
I am a marketing and communications professional, specialising in copywriting, digital media and video production. I have over six years’ experience, and am proud to have worked in several roles serving my adopted city of Leicester.
Current role: I have recently joined the LLEP as a Marketing and Communications Officer.
Head of Programmes
I have worked for over twenty years in a wide variety of economic development roles. During the time at the Northamptonshire LEP I have led on, Business support, Skills and the European Strategy. More recently I have worked in partnership with the Northamptonshire Growth hub to deliver funding and support to businesses at the early stage of development and those businesses with clear growth potential.
Current Role: As Head of Programmes I lead, manage and develop the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership Limited (LLEP) programme management, commissioning and procurement activity to ensure effective implementation of the Strategic Economic Plan (SEP), Local Growth Fund, Growing Places Fund and European Structural Investment Funding (ESIF).
Communications, Brand and Partnership Manager
I am a business development manager, communications and project co-ordinator with experience in conferencing, hospitality and general business support in a wide range of industry sectors. I have a proven track record in sales generation, account management, event management, marketing and communications.
I joined the LLEP Business Gateway team in January 2015 as Communications and Support Officer for the Growth Hub and moved up to Communications, Brand and Partnership Engagement Manager for the LLEP in June 2017.
Current Role: Every day at the LLEP is different as we are responsible for a wide range of programmes that deliver an economic impact across the region. There is a lot of great news stories to share about our activities including Local Industrial Strategy, Enterprise Zones, Growth Hub, Midlands Engine, ESIF funded support, Local Growth Fund, Growing Places Fund, Enterprise Adviser Network, Skills for the future, Midlands Connect, National Funding, Leicester Business Festival and much more.
I’ve worked for the local government for the last 20 years within the Human Resources Department. My Experience includes designing and delivering creative and responsive training, learning and development solutions across the organisation. Managed, developed, designed and delivered Recruitment and Job Evaluation programme to all service managers across the organisation and implemented change management programmes throughout school, colleges and universities across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland .
I graduated at De Montfort University with Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) and post-graduate qualification in Human Resources – Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD
Current Role: My role is to manage and co‐ordinate a range of internal and external events for the LLEP, LLEP Business Gateway and European Structural Investment Fund ﴾ESIF﴿. My role is very demanding but fun!
Since completing my degree in Business with Strategy & Entrepreneurship in 2009 I have worked in various roles in within Finance, Marketing and Energy sectors. I have also spent 2 years working and travelling in Australia before returning to the UK to work in a Training and Development role for a well-known energy company. I have recently joined the LLEP as a Project Officer supporting on Local Growth Fund projects alongside other funding streams.
Marketing and Communications Officer (Business Gateway)
Educated to degree level I have a wealth of marketing and communications experience, having worked across a mix of both B2B and B2C industries, I have a proven track record of delivering successful campaigns and enjoy learning new skills.
Current Role: I am the Marketing and Communications Officer for the Business Gateway Growth Hub. My role is to highlight the support available and ensure Leicester and Leicestershire is the city of choice! I was born in Leicestershire, so it’s great to get back to my roots and work in a role that supports the local area.
Chief Executive Officer
With over 20 years economic development experience including senior roles with local authorities in Leicester and Leicestershire since 1998, I was appointed Head of LLEP in 2010 to lead the formation of the partnership. A qualified town planner with a post graduate degree in Local Economic Development, I started my career at the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Current Role: I was appointed as Director of the LLEP in October 2016 and I am responsible for leading the LLEP team to deliver the LLEP’s objectives and managing corporate governance.
Senior Projects Manager (ESIF)
Educated to Degree level I have over 30 years of experience working in the public, private & VCS sectors. I have travelled extensively and worked in a number of countries including France, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria and Romania. My first career was that of a professional chef here in the UK and France. I have since had a wide range of jobs including being a farm hand, charity worker and now Project Manager
My passions are baking, gardening (I have 2 allotment plots) and volunteering as the Women’s Officer for the GMB Trade Union
Current role: As LLEP Senior Projects Manager I have overall responsibility for the LLEP’s €125.8m European Structural & Investment Funds Programme 2014-20 which supports a range of opportunities for businesses in the Leicester & Leicestershire area including Innovation, SME Competitiveness, Low Carbon, ICT, Rural Grants, Employment Skills and Leadership & Management.
I sit on a number of key strategic partnership groups including the National ESIF Sub-Committee for Performance & Dispute Resolution and most recently the National ESIF Growth Programme Board on behalf of the LEP Network
Since moving to Leicester from Spain in 1999 I have worked with many employers in the region in Business Development and Account and Project Management roles. I have a passion for education and I have spent the last 4 years working for Leicester College as a Training Consultant, advising employers on ups-killing their staff and growing their workforce in a responsible and sustainable way. Before Leicester College, I worked for Common Purpose, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers experiential leadership development programmes for senior leaders and young people in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Current Role: As an Enterprise Coordinator, I am part of a team connecting schools and colleges with senior business leaders and owners to create meaningful encounters with the world of work for young people. I work with the business community connecting them with Senior Leadership Teams in schools and colleges to develop sustainable careers and enterprise strategies for their young people.
I founded and managed a high end event catering business for 12 years -creating delicious and stylish food for high profile businesses such as Kurt Geiger, Diesel, Jaguar, Barclays, Ferrari Maserati and Coutts. In 20161 became a volunteer business mentor for the Prince’s Trust supporting disadvantaged young people to explore self-employment. After selling my own business I joined the Princes Trust as a full time employee, working first within the Enterprise team, later moving into the Education Team where I supported schools across the East Midlands to implement alternative education programmes.
Current Role: As an Enterprise Coordinator I wilt be supporting schools and businesses to work together to improve careers education, address the local skills pipeline and consider the continuously changing world of work.
I am passionate about supporting young people to make informed decisions for their future success. I have spent the last decade creating long-lasting relationships between education and the business world. Along the way I became a Health & Safety professional to support the Work Experience work that I managed across Leicester and Leicestershire. It was my dissertation on ethics during my post-grad programme that led me to work for a charity where I supported schools for 8 years before taking off to travel the world and widen my own horizons. But there’s no place like home.
Current Role: Coordinating the Careers & Enterprise Company’s national flagship programme, the Enterprise Adviser Network, I encourage senior business people to support their local school in preparing Careers Education plans. This is to provide our young people with a better understanding of the world of work and to inspire them to be ambitious in their choices, to make more informed decisions and ultimately have successful careers. Positive outcomes of this programme will support the reduction of NEET figures whilst bridging the skills gap in our economy.

Current Role: As admin and Business Support Officer my role is to provide office support including customer and employee support.
Economic Strategy Manager (Business)
As a young mum, I started a business with a friend, designing and making a range of ladies wear, sold through party plans, ultimately opening two retail outlets ‘Classy Rags’. We opened a factory to design, manufacture and supply bespoke corporate clothing to major blue chip companies both nationally and overseas, growing the business from £Zero to £2.5m. With customers such as EuroDisney, Stena Line, Debenhams, Connex, Toyota, Ford, Holiday Inns and First Group there was never a dull moment.
After 17 years we successfully sold the business to one of the UK’s largest private sector investors. Another exciting ten years in textiles followed as Design Director, Business Development director.
I have been working in Inward Investment and economic development since 2008.
Current Role: I am Economic Strategy Manager for Business at the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership. I have been working in economic development for 10 years, initially as Head of Inward Investment for Leicester and Leicestershire and subsequently managing a £21m Regional Growth Fund Programme, ERDF activities and LLEP Business Gateway (Growth Hub).
I am passionate about business, understanding the challenges and demands first hand having successfully grown my own start-up company into a scale up businesses, building turnover to £2.5m with 40 employees, designing, manufacturing and supplying uniforms to blue chip clients. I took the strategic decision to sell the business to one of the UK’s largest private investors followed by ten years as Business Development Director for industry leader Alexandra plc.
My breadth of experience means I understands the diverse and complete needs of business from start up, to scale up, Board level and plc.
