What is Better Business for All?

Better Business for All is the LLEP's response to addressing the national priority of reducing the burdens on business to aid economic recovery.

Better Business for All is a local partnership between business and regulatory services in Leicester and Leicestershire. The aim of the partnership is to create the conditions for an effective and efficient local regulatory system to support business growth through removing real and perceived regulatory barriers. A Partnership Charter has been signed by all organisations involved in the programme.

Organisation	Description
	Blaby District Council delivers regulatory services that include Environmental Health , Private Sector Housing, Climate Change, Pest & Dog Control, Licencing (Premises, Clubs, Taxis, Liquor etc), Street Management (Civil Parking Enforcement, Car Parking) and Building Control and Planning Services.
	Charnwood Borough Council is one of the largest district Council's in England, serving more than 160,000 residents. Regulatory Services are responsible for Environmental Health (Food Safety, Health & Safety, Environmental Protection, Pest and Dog Control), Licencing (Premises, Clubs, Taxis, Liquor etc) and Street Managenment (Civil Parking Enforcement, Car Parking and Enviro-crime).
	It's the Environment Agency's job to look after your environment and make it a better place - for you, and for future generations. Your environment is the air you breath, the water you drink and the ground you walk on. Working with business, Government and society as a whole, we are making your environment cleaner and healthier.
	The Federation of Small Business (FSB) is a business support and lobbying organisation. The FSB Legal Benefits Package is one of the cornerstones of membership. Other benefits include free business banking, merchant services, insurance and much more. The FSB also provides networking and support events/workshops for local business. Local and national lobbying/ campaigning specifically on issues affecting small businesses.
	Harborough District Council delivers regulatory services that include Food Safety Enforcement, Health & Safety Enforcement, Housing Standards Licencing - Animal, Alcohol & Entertainments, Caravan, Charity & Gaming and Taxi Noise Smoke, Light and Dust complaints, Contaminated Land and Air Pollution, Drainage, Waste Accumulations, Nuisances and Infectious diseases
	Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council delivers regulatory services in respect to food hygiene, health and safety, pollution and noise nuisance, private sector housing standards, pest control, licencing of alcohol, gambling and entertainment premises, waste collection, building control and planning services.
www.HMRC.gov.uk	This government department is charged with the administration, control and collection of taxes and duties. The Business and Support Team offer a range of tax education options, including free local workshops on a selection of topics to help new and developing businesses.
	The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness. It is an independent regulator that acts in the public interest to reduce work related death and serious injury across Great Britains workplaces.
	Leicester City Council delivers a broad range of public and environmental protection services in Leicester. Business related services include Health & Safety, Building Safety, Trading Standards, Food Safety, Licencing.
	Leicestershire Asian Business Association (LABA) strives to facilitate improvements in the business competitiveness of its members through being locally sensitive and both nationally and internationally active. Practically supporting business growth, economic enhancement, inward investment, international trade and political lobby and advocacy. Championing better regulations in the UK, EU and the world bank.
	Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce sits at the heart of the local business community, providing representation services, information and guidance, supporting members and the wider business community at local, and national, levels. The Chamber helps Leicestershire's business to thrive, working with local and regional government to shape and influence policy affecting the economy. We are part of the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), a powerful and influential network of Accredited Chambers across the UK.
	Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service not only provide an emergency fire and rescue capability but are also the enforcing authority for the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005. In order to ensure that the requirements necessary under this legislation are fully met, an ongoing risk based inspection programme is undertaken, focusing effort on those premisies considered to pose the greatest risk to life. This work together with the advice and guidance that is freely available help to ensure the safety of the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.
	The overall aim of the Trading Standards Service is to ensure a fair and safe trading environment, which protects the well-being of Leicestershire people and supports legitimate businesses to prosper. We provide free business advice, visit businesses to help with compliance and tackle rogue traders.
	Environmental Health - work with local businesses regarding legal compliance with food, health and safety and licencing matters. Also offer advice and deal with complaints from members of the public covering these areas.
	North West Leicetershire Distrct Council delivers regulatory services in respect to food hygiene, health and safety, pollution and noise nuisance, private sector housing standards, pest control, licencing of alcohol, gambling and entertainment premises, waste collection, building control & planning services.
	Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is a district council to the south east of Leicester city. The council is responsible for all usual district functions, such as food and health and safety at work businbess regulation, environmental protection, licencing and regulation of standards in the private housing sector. The regulation of health and safety at work and environmental protection is shared with the Health and safety Executive and Environment Agency respectively.
